Historical Notes: Edmond P. Greer was born in 1788 in Pulaski County, Georgia. He married Frances Hodnett in Greene County, Georgia (1810). Greer owned land and held several slaves in Carroll County, MS. In 1853, nineteen enslaved persons were given to his children, many of whom were his married daughters. In 1856, one of the heirs Daniel D. Murphy has sold his property and inheritance (which included land and two enslaved persons Green and John) for cash, and had given the proceeds to the children of his sister-in-law Mary Greer Perkins.
